No matter how many photos or documentaries you have seen, your first glimpse of these marvels of the ancient world will take your breath away. As a qualified Egyptologist, your tour guide can expertly explain the facts and myths behind these three mammoth works of art. You will also visit the mysterious Sphinx with its lion’s body and man’s face.

    Day 3 : : Alexandria Day tour

After Breakfast, Today We explore all the incredible sites this ancient city has to offer. Founded by Alexander the Great around 331BC, Egypt's only Mediterranean city is characterized by a distinctly European atmosphere and refreshing sea breezes.
sites are Fort Qaitbay Situated at the entrance of the eastern harbor on the eastern point of Pharos Island, it was erected on the exact site of the famous Lighthouse of Alexandria, one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World. In the fourteenth century, there was a very destructive earthquake and the whole building was destroyed and the fortification you see today was built in its place.
was considered one of the most important defensive strongholds along the Mediterranean Sea coast. It formulated an important part of the fortification system of Alexandria in the fifteenth century AD.
The next visit is to Pompey's Pillar. The name is wrong, as it has nothing to do with Pompey, having been erected in 293 for Emperor Diocletian, possibly in memory of the rebellion of Domitius Domitianus.
Ancient Egypt Trip will head to the Catacomb of Komel-Shokafa. These tombs were tunneled into the bedrock in the age of the Antonine Emperors (second century AD) for a single wealthy family still practicing the ancient religion. They represent the last existing major construction of the old Egyptian religion.
And finally, is the new Alexandria Library. The Ancient Library of Alexandria was probably the largest and certainly the most famous of the libraries of the ancient world. It flourished during Greek rule and functioned as a major center of scholarship, at least until the time of the Roman conquest of Egypt, and probably for many centuries thereafter. The old library was destroyed in a fire around the first century BC. The magnificent new Library was opened in 2002 very near the site of the ancient,

This morning we have an optional tour for you including a very early start, which means you will be supplied with a breakfast box as you will be leaving the hotel before breakfasts are served. Your guide will meet you and escort you, in our air-conditioned vehicle, to the site of Abu Simbel. Situated approximately 285 kilometers south of Aswan, including crossing the Tropic of Cancer, these two world-famous temples are amazing. Built by Ramses II in honor of himself and his favorite wife, Nefertari, these rock-cut temples were moved, in 1968, to escape the encroaching waters of the newly formed Lake Nasser. Back to Aswan, Lunch on board and sailing to Kom Ombo Cruise trip starts with the visit of Kom Omb, Temple of Kom Ombo, which is very unusual as it is dedicated to two gods: Sobek and Haroeris (the Greek name for the Egyptian god 'Herwer', which translates into 'Great Horus' or 'Horus the Elder'). It is built symmetrically, with two entrances, two sanctuaries, and a clear division that separates the temple into one-half Sobek and one-half Haroeris. It is a Ptolemaic temple, built between the reigns of Ptolemy VI (Philometor) and Ptolemy XII (Neos Dionysos) with sandstone from the nearby Gebel El Silsila quarries. The forecourt and outer corridor were added during the Roman Period.

Next, you will visit the smaller, in size but not in spectacle, Luxor Temple. Mainly added to by Ramses II it is now missing one of its obelisks, which can be seen in the Place de la Concorde in Paris: swapped for a clock (in the Mohammed Ali Mosque at Saladin’s Citadel) which has never worked. This temple also boasts many columns, statues, and various artifacts.
