Tour Timeline

  • 1
    Day 1 : : Travel to Farafra

    Drive from Cairo to Farafra (560 km) by minibus. Lunch break on the way (at local restaurant). We arrive at Farafra, dinner and accommodation at El Badawiya Hotel, built in traditional Egyptian style. Before sleeping, we will bathe in the hot spring Bir Setta just outside the oasis.

    Day 2 : : White Desert Camel Ride

    After breakfast drive from Farafra to Gebel Gunna, where we meet the camels and get acquainted with handling and riding them. We start with the camels to the White Desert. On the way, we have lunch at the famous Mushrooms, then we enter further into the desert to the White House where we leave our camels and back to hotel dinner and overnight at the hotel

    Day 3 : : white desert again

    After breakfast we ride from the White House to Wadi Henis. After lunch in Wadi El Nagfi, we go to the El Chur Cave (approx. 35 km). back to hotel, we have the chance to see the town, Badr Museum, back to hotel, dinner and overnight

    Day 4 : : white desert

    After breakfast we ride to Gebel El Taridir (approx. 25 km). Lunch on the way. After an unforgettable sunset from the hotel roof, we enjoy the stew prepared on the open fire and sleep under the stars at our Bedouin corner.

    Day 5 : : End of the Camel Safari

    After breakfast we ride to Barani, after lunch, return to Bir Regwa we say good-bye to the camels, get into the cars and drive back to Farafra.

    Day 6 : : At Farafra Oasis

    After breakfast. Visit at the Farafra Art Museum. Walk in the palm tree gardens around the oasis, lunch. At our camel farm in the evening, bath in hot spring Bir Setta. Dinner and overnight at El Badawiya Hotel.

    Day 7 : : Back to Cairo

    After breakfast we return to Cairo by minibus. We take a little break at the Crystal Mountain, then we proceed and have our lunch at local restaurant. We continue and take another little break at the Black Desert. Arrival at Cairo before sunset.

It has never been a problem, however you have to put up sometimes with annoying verbal harassment and this happens to egyptian women as well. The best thing is to ignore and go on. It can sometimes get really irritating but reacting does not work. There is nothing forbidden in egypt. You do not need to cover up or anything of the sort, yet to avoid drawing unnecessary attention to yourself, do please cover your shoulders and cleavage and do not wear shorts. It is just a matter of feeling comfortable and fitting in. Best footwear are sneakers as there is a lot of walking and it is dusty and sometimes the streets are in poor condition and dirty.
Egypt offers a wide variety of 3-star hotels. The prices range from $12 to $20 per person per night in a double room. I would suggest you check hotel directories for rates and locations. Backpacker services are not popular in egypt, although a few are available
